Karachi: On Thursday 17th June 2026, Chief Minister of Sindh Province Murad Ali Shah, Presented Budget into Sindh Assembly having total Budget Outlay of Rs. 3.56 Trillion, having estimated receipts of 3.52 trillion with proposed budget deficit around Rs. 37 Billion.
CM in his budget speech informed the assembly that no new taxes have been introduced, while 7% increase in the salaries of government employees has been announced. The minimum monthly wage in the province has been increased from Rs40,000 to Rs43,000.
On Revenue side, the Province has estimated to collect Rs. 775 Billion as revenues, out of which Rs. 690 Billion is estimated to be Provincial Tax Revenue, while around Rs. 85 Billion will be collected from other than tax sources. The Largest revenue source for the province is projected to be Sales Tax on Services, collections under this head are estimated to be Rs. 450 Billion.
On the Expenditure Side, Rs. 100 Billion have been allocated for Karachi’s development projects. For the education sector, Rs50.12 billion had been allocated under the annual development programme, while funds amounting Rs38.89 billion have been allocated for health sector. Additionally, Sindh government has allocated Rs6.3 billion for agriculture and livestock sector. Owing to the funding constraints, Development budget has been cut to Rs400 billion.
Sindh Government also allocated Rs13.2bn for Red Line BRT and over Rs3.5bn for Yellow Line BRT projects to facilitate Citizens of Karachi. A hefty amount has been reserved for purchase of Electric Buses for major cities of Province.
According to the Chief Minister providing relief to the people of Sindh and fast track completion of ongoing projects is a top priority of government.
