Karachi: Pakistan has settled all outstanding deposits owed to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the State Bank of Pakistan announced on Friday, confirming the repayment of US$1 billion to the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development.
According SBP, the payment was made on April 23, 2026 Moreover deposits of US$2.45 billion were repaid earlier during last week, bringing the total repayment to $3.45 billion.
With this, Pakistan has fully cleared its outstanding deposit obligations to the United Arab Emirates. The deposits placed by the United Arab Emirates—particularly through the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development—have played a critical stabilizing role for Pakistan’s economy over the past few years.
According to SBP, foreign exchange reserves held by Central Bank increased by US$18 million to $15.10 billion during the week ended on April 17, 2026. The current repayment of $ 1 Billion to UAE is not reflected in the above reserve position.
