According to data released by State Bank of Pakistan on Thursday, the foreign exchange reserves held by State Bank of Pakistan increased by US$16 million on a weekly basis, reaching to US$16.09 billion as of January 16, 2026.
Net foreign reserves held by commercial banks were recorded at US$5.17 billion hence, total foreign exchange reserves stood at US$21.26 billion
Increasing foreign exchange reserves are indicating improving external economic strength and stability. Remittances sent home by overseas Pakistanis are a major contributing factor in increasing reserve position.
