Islamabad:
The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has increased the investment limit for Sahulat Accounts from Rs1 million to Rs3 million to encourage more small investors to participate in the stock market.
The regulator has also allowed investors to open Sahulat Accounts with multiple licensed brokers, although only one account is permitted with each broker. This change brings the system closer to practices used in banks and mutual funds.
Sahulat Accounts were introduced to make investing easier by allowing individuals to open brokerage accounts using only their CNIC, with minimal paperwork. These accounts are mainly designed for low-risk and first-time investors and can also be opened online.
Currently, the market has 542,748 individual sub-accounts, including 144,634 investor accounts, which also cover participants in the Roshan Digital Account (RDA) program
