Power generation surged to a record 9,140 GWh in January 2026 (approximately 12,286 Mega Watts), which is highest output in recent months according to a brokerage house Topline Securities. This surge was driven by lower tariffs, higher incremental consumption from industrial consumers, and a shift of industrial users to the grid amid increased levies on captive power plants,” according to a twitter based statement of brokerage house.
The increase in power output is primarily due to the concessional package made available to Industries. According to official data over 100,000 industrial units benefited from the package availing relief amounting to Rs. 12 Billion.
